Silver Plated Wire Jewellery
A copper wire with a thin layer of silver applied to the outside.
Both Silver Plated wire and Bare Copper wire are bought from a UK supplier.
Handmade ear hooks are made with Silver Filled Wire
This is a speciality wire consisting of a copper core with a substantial outer coating of 99% pure silver, making up 10% of the wire.
Ready made ear hooks are sterling silver.
Chains and Clasps
Either silver plated, copper or base metal coloured gold or rose gold.
Beads
Glass, metal or semi-precious stone. Occasionally I use interesting reclaimed beads.
Felted and hand spun work
My own small flock and those of other local small holders are the main sources of my fibre. I process the fleece from start to finish, from washing to dying to felting or spinning and then sometimes use the yarn to knit or weave functional items.
If I want a particular fibre like silk, flax, bamboo, etc, I buy from reputable UK suppliers.
Other materials
Embroidery threads, small beads, fabric, mill spun yarns, leather paper and all sorts of other materials also find their way into my work.
